WOW - What an evening...
Firstly, I'd like to thank Aisling Byrne, Frank McDonald, John Dixon, Caitriona Flynn and the rest of the CAC committee for putting so much hard work in to ensuring that this years club 5k was a great success.
Last Thursday evening saw near 500 people descend on our track to enjoy a wonderful evenings running , with over 300 runners taking part in our annual 5k run supported by a fantastic crowd cheering them on. This years race was won by Mitchell Byrne of Rathfarnham AC in a time 14 minutes 56 seconds, superb running and well done Mitchell. The race didn't go without incident as Mitchell took a fall entering the track with 600m to go only for fellow runner Eric Keogh of Donor Harriers pausing for a second to ensure his compatriot was ok, and they both battled it out for 600m in what was a fantastic finish, well done Eric who finished 2nd in 14 minutes 59 seconds.
Celbridge AC had 3 runners is the top 10 with Stephen Conroy taking 4th place, with Ian McManus and Gary Cribbin taking 8th and 9th respectively.
Even more amazing news was that Mitchell broke the course record while Laura Shaughnessy also broke the womens course record, fantastic achievements from both. Paul Moran of Rathfarnham AC ran 16:33 to break the Irish Master M55s National Record, WOW.
Once again, thanks to everyone involved, and most importantly a huge thank you goes to all of our sponsors who supported our run once again, without you none of this would have been possible. You can see the full results at the link below
