Last Saturday saw the club host Round 2 of the Juvenile league at our own track and thankfully the rain stayed away for the majority of the day. The club are now in 2nd place behind Kildare AC in the standings with 1 round to go.
In the younger ranks, Amelia Turley and Zara Russell dominated once again for the second weekend in a row taking 1st and 2nd place in the Under 8 girls sprints. The girls Under 10s had 3 in the first 7 placings in the 300m which was an excellent result for the kids in tough windy conditions. Daniel Connolly led from start to finish in the boys Under 11 300m whilst Vuyo Mosea showed everyone a clean set of heels in the Boys Under 13 200m. Adam Bradley and Daniel Costigan took 2nd and 3rd in the Boys under 11 200m, while Aobheann Russell ran brilliantly in the girls 200m to take 2nd place while she also took 1st place in the Turbo Jav.
There were plenty more impressive performance such as Amy taking first place in the Girls 800m, another excellent performance after her strong exhibition of running in round 1 last weekend.
The final round of the league takes place on Sunday in Newbridge at 2pm so I'd ask as many of our athletes as possible to come out in force to push Kildare AC all the way for 1st place.
