Bag Pack - Thanks

October 29th, 2008

A big thank you to everyone who helped out at the bag pack in Tesco Celbridge last weekend.  Thanks to all athletes, parents and friends who gave up their time for our athletic club.  The grand total of 2119 euro was raised for which we are very grateful.  Many thanks once again!

Results of Leinster Even ages

October 29th, 2008

On a day when we had sunshine, wind, rain and lots of mud on a very challanging course, we had lots of athletes compete in Rathdrum, many for the first time at Leinster level.

Well done to Alan Carroll u12 our only medal winner on the day.  Alan finished in 26th position and 5th on the Kildare team which came 3rd overall.  Well done Alan a great run from you in very trying conditions.

Leinster is a totally different ball game .. up to 100 athletes in the races which can put many an athlete off but the experience gained is immense.  I can guarantee the second time around will be totally different.  Well done to all new athletes who competed! (This includes our master athletes!)

Well done also to all other athletes who have been loyal to the club over the years and continue to improve on the previous year!  Full results can be got HERE

Bag Pack/ Break in

October 22nd, 2008

As most of you are aware by now our changing room was broken into over last weekend.  Shot Putts, discus and Celbridge AC hoodies and tracksuits were taken.  It is very frustrating when so many people put their time and energy into the club and then thoughtless individuals do this to us.

Because of this a bag pack has been arranged in Tesco Celbridge on Friday and Saturday next to try and raise some badly needed funds.  We would appreciate your support and help in this.  Adults especially welcomed!  Anyone interested if you have not already done so please give your name to Tracy on 087 6648464.  Many thanks.  Please wear hoodie, tracksuit or singlet when collecting.

Results of Uneven ages Co. Cross Country

October 13th, 2008

The second day of the Co. Cross country took place in Kilcock on Sunday 12th.  We had a good turn out of athletes for all age groups. We took a gold and bronze individual medal and a gold, 3 silvers and a bronze in the team events.

Niamh O’Connor got Celbridge off to a flying start with a 1st place in the u9 race.  Niamh took 3rd place in the u10 event 2 weeks ago and was determined to win this race. She was closely followed by her teammates of Ruth Dwyer, Holly Shanley, Ruby Shirt and Holly Tynan.  This team also took the gold medals.  Well done girls, County Champions!!

The girls and boys u11 were unlucky to both finish in 5th team place but all athletes ran great.  The girls team was Elaine Wilson, Dearbhla Shirt, Roisin McConnon, Aoife Tynan and Clodagh Cassidy.  The boys team was Rian Quinn. Ciaran O’Connor, Connor Walsh, John Clarke and Robert Clarke.

The girls u13 had a great race and took the bronze medals.  They were Christine Campion ,Shauna Minnock,  Sinead O’Connor, Claire Kennedy, Amanda Flynn.  Well done girls.  Our boys u13 were not so lucky.  They finished outside the medals but put up a great fight.  They were Alan Carroll, Lorcan Evereard, Matthew Dwyer, Luke Commiskey, Christian Keok, Danny Cahill, Ciaran Wilson and Jamie Walton

in the girls u15, Jamie Garland after her brilliant 2nd place in Crookstown two weeks ago, again had a great run and finished in 3rd place with her teammates of Jessica McHugh , Vivian Fleischer and Rebecca Cahill following closely to take the silver team medals. Well done girls!

The boys u15, ran a great race to take the silver medal also they were  Marty Wickham, Eoin Shields-Ryan, Barry Walton and Brian Moore.  Marty, Eoin and Barry were running their first ever cross country race and Brian who moved up an age group was delighted to have a team for the first time!  Well done lads!

The boys u17 race was won by all ireland champions, Kilcock but our boys did us proud and came in a very close 2nd.  They were Aiden Moloney, Conor Burke and Eoin Moore, Darragh Magee, Dylan Behan and Aaron Flemming. Well done boys.

Again our ‘Masters’ took to the track and Ann Wilson came in 3rd place in her catagory while results are not to hand at the moment for the mens ‘Masters’ race they all ran great once again with John Molloy taking 1st place in his age catagory.  I am sure this team of Martin Kenney, John Molloy, Michael Tynan, Eamon Tynan and Dave Lawler also collected some silverware!!!

Well done to all who ran and the next outing will be the Leinster Even Age in Rathdrum on Sunday 26th October.
