Official Opening of Track

May 6th, 2008

Monday 5th May was the official opening day of our new facility. The event was a huge success with the ribbon being cut by Ronnie Delany, Olympian Gold Medal winner, and founder Eamonn O’Keefe.  A blessing by Rev. Godferry, Church of Ireland and Fr Brady C.C. Celbridge followed this.  Tallaght marching band provided the entertainment on the day for the large numbers of people and families who attended.

Many thanks to the following who kindly gave their time to share this day with Celbridge A.C., public representatives, Aine Brady TD. and Lab Councillor Kevin Byrne and Clane Red Cross.   Mary Kearns, who travelled to Celbridge from her new home in Donegal to see the results of her many years of hard work come to fruition. Des Doyle and Family, Phyllis Burke and the many retired committee members, and club members whose years of hard fundraising work lead to this day.

The organising group deserves many thanks, including Ivor McCormack, Bernie Everard, Tracy Minnock, Liam Hyde, and the tremendous work done by the many back team workers. Last but not least to all of the coaches, who ran the athletic and fun events, on the day Sandra & Shane from the junior group, Breda, Tom, & Michael the U11-12 coaches, Steffen, Andrea, & Brendan U 13- 14 coaches and not least our senior and specialist group coaches Derek, Myles & Des
