Awards Night

February 20th, 2008

Our annual awards night for 2007 will be held in Barnhall Rugby Club on Friday, 22nd February 8.00 - 11.30p.m.  A presentation will be made to the athletes and this will be followed by a disco and a raffle.  Hot snacks and drinks will be provided for all athletes and their brothers/sisters.  Admission is 20 euro per family (This includes brothers/sisters, parents & grandparents of athletes).  Everyone welcome.

Woodies DIY Irish Junior and Masters Indoors

Sandra Lawler was once again in action in Nenagh this weekend at the irish junior championships.  Sandra won the 60m hurdles with ease    PHOTO

Our newest member of the club Damian Kirwan competed in the V2 section of the masters and came 3rd in the 60m in a fantastic time of 8.21 secs.  Well done Sandra and Damian!

SENIOR ATHLETIC CLUB

Due to the demand of athletes enquiring about a senior section to the club we have decided to set one up.  This club will be open to anyone 19 and over who would like to get fit, run for fun and also for the serious athlete.  We have a 110m tartan track and also a 400m grass track.  Training will be every Tuesday evening from 4th March, starting at 8.00 p.m. (after the juveniles training session) to start off with and to see the demand.  If you are interested please meet at our track at 7.45p.m.

The track is situated behind St. Wolsten’s Community School on the Clane Road.  You enter through the gates at the school and continue down the road.  The track will be on the right hand side.

Second Hand Spikes

Celbridge AC have some second hand spikes in our possession which we will sell off for a small donation to the club on Tuesday next 19th at 6.45p.m. down in the clubhouse.  Some of these spikes are in great condition and anyone interested come along and try them on.  Also, anyone with spikes which no longer fit and would like to donate them please bring them along and recycle them.

Sandra wins again

Sandra Lawler competed for Celbridge AC and Leinster in Kelvin Hall in Scotland last weekend and once again proved to all that she is the one to beat when she won the girls u20 60m hurdles.  Sandra competes in the National Junior indoor championships on Sunday next 17th in Nenagh.

Please note that Breda/Tom’s group will not be indoors this Thursday 7th or 14th.  Training will take place on the track instead.  So come prepared for outdoors!

Results from Nenagh

Congratulations to all athletes who travelled to Nenagh in terrible weather last weekend.  We won 11 individual medals and also three relay teams took medals.  Christine Campion took gold in the u13 long jump and 2nd in the hurdles.  Sinead Lawler took 3rd in both the u16 long jump and 60m.  Aoife Sheehy and Karen Gernon took 1st and 2nd in the u18 walk.  David Campbell 1st in u17 walk, Lorna Comiskey 3rd in u15 walk, Sinead O’Connor 3rd in u12 hurdles, Darragh McGee 3rd in u17 60m and Ken Shannon 1st in u18 shot.  We also had brilliant performances from Siobhan Brady, Vivian Fleischer, Eoin Moore, Shauna Minnock and Ronan Power who all just missed out on a medal coming 4th in their events.  The girls u13 team, Christine Campion, Shauna Minnock, Laura Smyth, Michelle O’Dea and Sinead O’Connor were 3rd in relay as was the girls u16 team of Niamh Sheehy, Sinead Lawler, Nina Haller and Lorna Comiskey and also the boys u17 team of Aiden Moloney, David Campbell, Darragh McGee and Ronan Power.  Well done everyone.  RESULTS HERE

Results from Cardiff

Well done to Sandra Lawler who competed for Ireland in Cardiff on Sunday last in the u20 age group.  She won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.69 and also was on the Irish relay 4 x 200m who came second.  Congratulations Sandra!
