Leinster Indoors - Nenagh

January 30th, 2008

The indoor season kicks off on Saturday and Sunday in Nenagh 2/3 Feb.   We have a lot of athletes competing from u12 up to u19.  We wish you all the best of luck. Both days start at 10.30.  Field events tend to get swapped around time wise so it is best to be there for 10.30.
Please note it is meant to be freezing over the weekend, as you know Nenagh is cold at the best of times so wrap up with lots of layers and bring warm drinks.

Results from Odyssey Arena - Belfast

January 30th, 2008

Sandra Lawler, her first time competing in the Senior section of Irish athletics did us proud last Sunday.  Sandra competed in the 60m Hurdles and ran 8.60 sec in her heat coming second and beating her irish rival Mairead Murphy into third place. This heat was the fastest of the two!  Sandra then lined up against Sarah Claxton of England who won the race and she came in fifth in a slightly slower time.  Overall, however, she came 2nd in Ireland as the other athletes were from abroad.
This time was a new PB for Sandra and on the back of this race she has been picked to compete for Ireland at the Celtic International Indoor Cup in Cardiff on Sunday.  Sandra will compete in the 60m hurdles and also in the 4 x 200m relay. Best of luck Sandra.

Claire Brady competed in the 60m sprint and just missed out on a place in the final coming in 7th overall.  Well done Claire.
These championships at the Odyssey were televised and if anyone missed it and would like to see how Sandra ran, contact Finola for a DVD of same.

All Ireland Cross Country - Dungarvan

January 9th, 2008

Michelle O’Dea, Alan Carroll and Vivian Fleischer were our sole representatives for the uneven ages cross country in Dungarvan recently.  All athletes were part of the County team and although they did not win any medals they all ran well and gained valued experience.  Vivian was unlucky to fall  during the race and hurt her knee but she has made a full recovery.   RESULTS
