On Sunday last our athletes once again did us proud, coming away from the County Championships with 5 team medals and 2 individual medals. Our girls u9 took 3rd place medals with most of the athletes competing for the first time. The team was Niamh O’Connor, Roisin McConnen, Louise Duffy and Holly Shanley. Unfortunately our boys u 9 could only field 3 athletes but John Clarke, Conor Comiskey and Sean Tynan ran great and had they another athlete running would definitely have been in the medals. The u11 girls ran a great team race and finished in 3rd spot. Sinead O’Connor was first home followed closely by Niamh O’Hallorhan, Amanda Flynn and Roisin Byrne. Well done girls. The u11 boys also ran great to claim the bronze medal. The team was Alan Carroll, Matthew Dwyer, Daniel Cahill and Lorcan Everard with support from Luke Comiskey, Aaron Crolly, Ciaran O’Connor, Robert Clarke, David Duffy and Luke Ecock.
The u13 girls only had 4 athletes show so it was very important for all of them to finish, which they did in splendid style taking the silver medal. The team was Vivian Fleischer, Jessica McHugh, Rebecca Cahill and Shauna Minnock. Robert Fitzsimons ran a great race, his first, to finish well up in the boys u13 race but unfortunately due to illness was the only competitor for Celbridge. The girls u15 put up a brave fight to finish just outside the medals in 4th place missing 3rd by two points! The were Kellie Newman, Caoimhe McCormack, Nina Haller and Niamh Sheehy.
The boys u15 ran a great race with Eoin Moore leading from the start and just missing out on 1st place in the last 200m of the race. Eoin finished in 2nd place with Ronan Power finishing in 3rd. This was a great race and their team mates of Oliver Clarke and Dylan Behan coming 9th and 10th insured them the gold team medal. Well done boys!
Aoife Sheehy ran a great race in the girls u17 race to come in 4th place and David Campbell and Alex Walsh ran great in the boys u17 race but were also just outside the medal positions.

Congratulations to all athletes who took part in last Sunday’s first cross country race. We had many new athletes running for the first time and they all did brilliantly. We took home three individual medals and three team medals. Christine Campion came home in 2nd place in the girls u12 race and her team mates of Shauna Minnock, Michelle O’Dea, Sinead O’Connor, Laura Smyth Sarah Mulhere and Amanda Flynn all finished close behind to earn them 2nd team medals. Vivian Fleischer also took individual 3rd place in the girls u14 race with her team mates of Nina Haller, Caoimhe McCormack, Roisin Everett and Lorna Comiskey taking bronze team medals. The boys u16 also ran a great race to take gold team medals and also a cup. They were David Campbell, Steven Lovatt, Graham Douglas, Darragh McGee, Brian Bottrill and Glen O’Dea. Aoife Sheehy took individual 3rd place in the girls u18 race but unfortunately did not have a team. The boys u10 of Ciaran O’Connor, Kevin Dunne and Luke Ecock ran a great race but were just outside the medals as were the boys u12 team despite great performances by Matthew Dwyer, Lorcan Everard, Luke Comiskey and Daniel Cahill.

Many thanks to all the families who supported our recent flag day. We were well represented and collected 2118 euro. This is a great achievement and is needed to go towards repaying our loan on the new track. Thanks also to Breda Comiskey who organised and co-ordinated the whole event.
