Results of National T & F Championships

July 16th, 2007

Sandra Lawler continued on her winning ways with two more national titles. Sandra won the 100m Hurdles in a time of 14.73 secs way ahead of the rest of the field and also the 300m Hurdles in a similar fashion in 44.95 secs. In the 100m sprint it took a photo finish to determine 2nd and 3rd place, Sandra eventually being given the 3rd place medal. This is a great achievement and she still has the long jump to compete in on the 28th July.

Other athletes performed well notably Karen Gernon, 5th in u17 Walk and Eoin Moore with a PB of 35.42m in the u15 javelin to earn 6th place. Ronan Power, Oliver Clarke, Graham Douglas, Brian Botrill, Paul Brady, Darragh McGee, Aiden Moloney, Brian Moore, Seadna Mc Grillen and Vivian Fleischer also competed and performed well. RESULTS

Holidays

July 9th, 2007

Just to remind everyone, there will be no training for athletes in August.  This is the only month that the athletes and coaches take off.  So it is well deserved break.

Co. League T & F

July 9th, 2007

The last leg of the league took place in Naas yesterday amid thunderstorms and lightning.  Although we were well down on the number of athletes we fielded, every athlete there performed brilliantly with most of them coming in the top three in their event and lots with PB’s.  Afterwards the athletes and parents were treated to a small party with hot food provided for the parents and goodies for the athletes. This was a lovely end to the track season for the younger athletes and parents alike.  Eoin Moore was also awarded a trophy for Most Points Scorer in the u15 boys.  Well done to everyone who took part.  Medals will be given out in September.

National Junior & u23 T & F

July 9th, 2007

Sandra Lawler competed in the National Junior (u20) Track and Field Championships in Tullamore on Sunday last. Once again she showed how good an athlete she is by coming 2nd in the 100m Hurdles just behind Mairead Murphy who has qualified for the european juniors. This was a magnificent performance from Sandra. Sandra then went on the finish 3rd in the 100m in a very strong field. Well done Sandra.

Claire Brady also competed in the u23 100m and finished 2nd. She was very unlucky in the 200m, having to pull up on the home straight after injuring herself. Get better soon Claire.
